David Hillhouse joined JDH Commercial Realty in 2011 bringing with him 12 years of real estate experience in buying, selling, renting, and leasing condos, townhomes, duplexes, and single family properties. In addition to being licensed in Florida and Mississippi, Hillhouse, a native of Meridian, MS, owns Mr. D's Laundry and Hillhouse Vending.  In 1999, he moved to Orlando, Florida and obtained a Florida real estate license. There, Hillhouse learned and crafted his skill in the trenches of the 90’s real-estate-boom. In 2005, he graduated with a BA in English/Creative Writing from the University of Southern Mississippi at Hattiesburg and has resided in Meridian since that time to endeavor business opportunities.

James Harwell is a 4th generation native Mississippian and real estate paralegal who begin a commercial real estate sales career in 2004 with Century 21, Howell Realty in Meridian, MS. He obtained a broker license in 2006 and the following year opened JDH Commercial Realty, LLC, focusing on retail, office, industrial and multi-family development.

His real-estate-career tracks back to 1992 where, while working as a paralegal for the law firm of Remler, Near and Melikian, Harwell worked nights to complete the coursework at the National Center for Paralegal Training for a paralegal certificate. While there, he developed a perspective on business and ethics while assisting attorneys in large, corporate Chapter 11 bankruptcies and other business transactions. Later, he worked as a title examiner covering the surrounding counties of Atlanta and learning the mechanics of hands-on-title work. In 1997, Harwell was hired by the Atlanta office of Central Park Capital, L.P. as a loan-closing coordinator and served as the liaison or “point person” between the attorneys at Alston and Bird and the bond brokers at the investment firm Goldman Sachs.

In 2003, Harwell moved to his native Mississippi and his parents’ and grandparents’ hometown of Meridian to begin working as a Realtor. Although he found working in Atlanta on voluminous and high dollar transactions to be fun and exciting, “I began to realize that I was on the wrong side of the deals,” he said. “But, the experience was invaluable to me now as a Realtor.”

In 2010, in response to the declining commercial markets, JDH Commercial Realty expanded to form the d/b/a, JDH Realty which specifically markets highly desirable Mississippi historic homes, rural properties, timberlands, farms and estates, all of which are areas of personal love and enjoyment for Harwell, as broker and Mississippi native son.

Harwell is a member of the Meridian Board of Realtors, the Mississippi Commercial Association of Realtors, and National Association of Realtors. He attended classes at Western State College in Colorado, the University of Salamanca, Spain, and is a 1984 graduate of the University of Mississippi holding a BA degree in journalism with a public relations emphasis, and English minor. His wife Regan, a former secondary school educator, is the owner of H E R Properties, LLC. Together, they have 3 children, Peyton, Chase Velotas who attends Meridian High School and Austin Velotas, who attends Birmingham Southern Collage. They are members of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator in Meridian.
